A new bike safety law went into effect over the weekend which will now require Kentucky drivers to stay at least three feet away when passing someone on a bicycle.
The goal of the new law is to help educate drivers and cyclists about safety measures that need to be taken while sharing the road.
The new law also states that drivers must utilize “reasonable caution” when passing cyclists if they cannot move over a full three feet. However, the new legislation does allow passing cars to cross a double yellow line legally to make the pass.
Information about the new law will be published in all new Kentucky drivers’ safety manuals.  SEE VIDEO
