Regular Meeting
January 7, 2014

 

The Stamping Ground City Commission held the regular meeting on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Stamping Ground City Hall.  Those in attendance were Mayor Bill Swartz, Mayor Pro Tem Nathan Ritchie, Commissioners Jacky Hobbs and Kayla Jones.  Commissioner Christa Darnell was absent.  Police Chief Stephen Morris and Fire Chief Billy McIntosh.  City Attorney Joe Hoffman and City Clerk Janice Hockensmith.  Guests include the winners of the Home for Christmas Decorating Contest.  Mr. Rodney Welch and Mr. Donnie Fryman with Welch and Company.

 

Mayor Swartz called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Nathan Ritchie led in a word of prayer.

 

Commissioner Jones presented awards to the winners in the Home for Christmas Decorating Contest.  Kayla thanked Wal-Mart for their support in providing part of the gift cards.
Mayor Swartz turned the floor over to Mr. Welch for presentation of the annual Audit report.  Mr. Welch advised the City had done a good job controlling finances.  Advised the City had improved on collecting property taxes.

 

Attorney Hoffman gave the second reading of Ordinance Adopting the 2013 Kentucky Building and Residential Codes.
 
Motion to accept 2013 Kentucky Building and Residential Codes Ordinance made by Nathan Ritchie.  Second by Kayla Jones.  Motion carried. 2014-003.
 
Attorney Hoffman gave the second reading of Ordinance Repealing Existing Provisions of the Stamping Ground Code of Ordinances Relating to Floodplain Management and Replacing Them with a New Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance.
 
Motion to accept Ordinance Repealing Existing Provisions of the Stamping Ground Code of Ordinances Relating to Floodplain Management and Replacing Them with a New Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance was made by Jackie Hobbs.  Second by Kayla Jones.  Motion carried. 2014-001
 
Attorney Hoffman read a Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to enter into an Interlocal Agreement on behalf of the City with the City of Georgetown, City of Sadieville, and Scott County for the Provision of Building Inspection Services.
 
Motion to adopt Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to enter into Interlocal Agreement on behalf of the City with the City of Georgetown, City of Sadieville, and Scott County for the Provision of Building Inspection Services made by Nathan Ritchie.  Second by Kayla Jones.  Motion carried.
 
 
Police Department:  Chief Morris presented information on the Department of Defense 1033 Program.  He advised the City would not be obligated to anything other than training for any equipment the Department might receive.  Discussion of approval of items before committing to anything.  Item tabled until next month.
Chief Morris advised the basement renovations were about 95% complete.  Kayla advised the department is planning to hold an open house possibly in March.
Commissioner Jones advised that the City had received a $200.00 for the barrel that was destroyed on Main Street.

 

Fire Department:  Chief McIntosh advised that the Suburban has been painted.

Streets Department:  Nothing at this time.  Mayor Swartz advised that Roy Ferguson has the new signs and posts to be installed.
 
Economic Development:  Nothing at this time.

 

Finance and Administration:  Nothing at this time.

 

Public Works:  Commissioner Hobbs asked for approval to apply for a mulch grant through the State.

 

Motion to allow Commissioner Hobbs apply for mulch grant made by Nathan Ritchie.  Second by Kayla Jones.  Motion carried.

 

Motion to approve December 5, 2013 minutes made by Kayla Jones.  Second by Jackie Hobbs.  Motion carried.

 

Motion to approve December Financials made by Nathan Ritchie.  Second by Kayla Jones.  Motion carried.

The Stamping Ground City Commission held the regular meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2013, at Stamping Ground City Hall.  Those in attendance were Mayor Bill Swartz, Mayor Pro Tem Nathan Ritchie, Commissioners Jacky Hobbs, Christa Darnell and Kayla Jones.  Police Chief Stephen Morris and Fire Chief Billy McIntosh.  City Attorney Joe Hoffman and City Clerk Janice Hockensmith.

Police Department:  Kayla advised that renovations of basement are in progress.  Chief Morris advised that the Police Department has been awarded a $500.00 Grant from Wal-Mart.

Fire Department:  Chief McIntosh advised that the Suburban has been taken to Maaco to be painted.

Streets Department:  Nothing at this time.

Economic Development:  Nothing at this time.

Finance and Administration:  Nothing at this time
